  Overlord\, the amphibious invasion of northwest France on June 6\, 1944\,
  the largest seaborne assault ever conducted\, was carefully planned over 
 a six-month period as&nbsp\;a combined\, joint service operation. The oper
 ation nearly failed. This presentation will review the details of this cru
 cial invasion and the critical role played by the 29th US Infantry Divisio
