\nDanielle Koonce is a doctoral candidate in the Depa rtment of Sociology. She enjoys thinking about the connections and relatio nships between race and space\, particularly rural spaces and how these re lationships contribute foundationally to many \;broad themes in sociol ogy. \; As a social movement scholar\, she is also interested in under standing contemporary Black resistance movements\, such as the Environment al Justice Movement and Black Lives Matter\, specifically as the latter ex periences organizational shifts and societal reach. Her dissertation exami nes the dynamics of power and how these dynamics play out through activist s and activism in urban and rural settings. \; \;
