\nAbout the authors:
\nPaulette is a native of Li ttle Rock and attended Louisiana State University\, where she received a B A in English. In 2008\, she earned an MA in English from our graduate prog ram here at UCA and later an MFA in Creative Writing from the University o f Florida. While taking classes toward the MA\, she worked on \;Slant& nbsp\;with then editor James Fowler as a Graduate Assistant. She now lives in Searcy and teaches literature and writing at Harding University.
\nPaulette writes and publishes under her given name\, Paulette Guerin. S he has published widely in literary journals and is included in the anthol ogy \;Best New Poets 2018\, published by the University of Virginia Pr ess\, and \;Wild Muse: Ozarks Nature Poetry\, \;published by Corne rpost Press. Her initial book-length collection\, \;Wading Through Let he\, was published by FutureCycle Press in 2022 and has received excellent reviews. \nDave Malone was born in Rol la\, Missouri. In the mid-1970s when he was six\, his family moved to rura l Kansas to a small home that overlooked Tuttle Creek Lake. Discovering fo ssils along an ancient creekbed inspired an interest in history. Listening to Vincent Price&rsquo\;s \;CBS Radio Mystery Theater \;on his tr ansistor inspired an interest in storytelling and the macabre. He also ate up books like the \;Dr. Doolittle \;series and Madeleine L&rsquo\ ;Engle&rsquo\;s \;A Wrinkle in Time. In third grade\, a teacher introd uced haiku to a handful of eager students\, and Dave was taken with this c ombination of math and writing. And his lifelong interest in poetry began. Encouraged by high school and college teachers to pursue a life of letter s\, Dave did just that by beginning his studies in Abilene\, Texas\, then going on to earn a bachelor&rsquo\;s degree from Ottawa University in 1991 and a master&rsquo\;s degree from Indiana State in \;1994. For many y ears\, he held a number of fun jobs\, traveled\, and lived in the Southwes t and Midwest. In 2009\, he came back to the Ozarks and loves writing abou t this place that means so much to him. Dave is the author of 11 works of poetry\, fiction\, nonfiction\, and drama. His first book is \;Poems t o Love and the Body \;(Bliss Station Publishing\, 1999) and his most r ecent book is \;You Know the Ones \;(Golden Antelope Press\, 2017) . Dave&rsquo\;s early writing was commended for its daring\, sometimes rib ald\, nature. His later work has been praised for its refinement\, heart\, and strong sense of place.
