X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>Are you interested in learning about colle
cting wild food? Join this workshop lead by Sheila Nemcsok\, to learn how
to safely\, sustainably\, and ethically find and use herbs\, greens\, frui
ts\, seeds\, nuts and roots from urban nature. This workshop will include
a 30-45 minute classroom session on foraging safety\, sustainability and e
thics\, followed by an outdoor lesson about in-season forageable goods aro
und the library campus\, giving you hands-on exposure to forageable plants
  in their natural setting.</p>\n<p>&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Sheila is a Kingston-ba
sed urban forager whose pandemic passion project was to bring foraging edu
cation to her community.&nbsp\; She grew up in a in Northern Ontario\, whe
re her family regularly foraged for blueberries\, hazelnuts\, wintergreen
and other wild foods.&nbsp\; She has a certificate in Plant-Based Medicine
from Cornell University and a Master Naturalist certificate from Lakehead
University.</p>\n<p>&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>The KFPL is hosting 8 foraging worksh
ops between April &ndash\; November 2024.&nbsp\; Look for these workshops
in our events calendar\, registration opens a month in advance for each se
ssion. Forageable goods often have short harvest windows\, so while there
may be some overlap from month to month\, consider attending multiple work
shops in order to maximize how many plants that you can learn about\, whil
e deepening your understanding of plants that are covered repeatedly.</p>\
