  Curtis Chin. Chin will discuss his publishing journey\, as well as read f
 rom his new memoir\, <em>Everything I Learned\, I Learned in a Chinese Res
 taurant.</em>&nbsp\;The book\, which <em>Publishers Weekly</em> named one 
 of the Top 10 memoirs of fall 2023\, focuses on the author's experiences g
 rowing up in 1980s Detroit and how his family&rsquo\;s iconic Chinese rest
 aurant\, Chung&rsquo\;s\, served as a safe haven amid the crime\, drugs\, 
 and AIDS of the era. The memoir's opening line includes the phrase &ldquo\
 ;for here or to go\,&rdquo\; a common phrase used in most take-aways that 
 also serves as a central theme in the comedic memoir.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Curti
 s Chin\, LSA Creative Writing and Literature\, has received awards from AB
 C/Disney Television\, New York Foundation for the Arts\, the National Endo
 wment for the Arts\, and many more. He has written for TV and film and has
  screened his social justice documentaries at over 600 locations in nearly
  20 countries. In addition\, his essay in <em>Bon Appetit</em> was selecte
 d for Best American Food Writing 2023.</p>\n<p>Book sales and signing will
  follow the author's presentation. Registration is required for this free
