 isciplines\, from African American Studies to Sociology to Criminology and
  Criminal Justice to Economics to Government and Politics to Anthropology 
 to Hearing and Speech Sciences and more\, this series brings exciting new 
 voices to the Prince George&rsquo\;s County community and offers us all fr
 esh ways to engage.</p>\n<p>On February 15\, 2024\, Katelyn Foltz presents
 \, "Football &amp\; Concussions: Spouses &amp\; Caretaking After the Last 
 Snap." Katelyn Foltz (she/her) earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology an
 d Global Studies: Securities and Justice from the University of Virginia i
 n 2018. She earned her first Master of Arts in Sociology at George Mason U
 niversity in 2020. Her thesis\, &ldquo\;The United States&rsquo\; History 
 of Unsportsmanlike Conduct &amp\; the Portrayal of Colin Kaepernick: How t
 he Culture Surrounding Football Reinforces the White Supremacist Patriarch
 y &amp\; Nationalism\,&rdquo\; used content analysis\, ethnography\, and i
 nterviews to demonstrate how the culture surrounding football reinforces i
 deas of white paternalism and hegemonic masculinity. She earned her second
  Master of Arts in Sociology from the University of Maryland - College Par
 k in 2022. Currently\, she is pursuing her Ph.D. in Sociology at the Unive
 rsity of Maryland &ndash\; College Park. She is currently working on two r
 esearch projects. The first project explores the media coverage of WNBA an
 d MNBA athletes&rsquo\; involvement in Black Lives Matter protests in the 
 Summer of 2020. The second project explores gender-based violence in the s
 ports world through the lens of intersectionality.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p style="t
