Twenty-five years ago\, Stephen Bybee bega n photographing downtown Columbia in earnest. For reasons both pragmatic a nd creative\, nighttime offered him the best opportunity to wander our cit y&rsquo\;s streets in search of inspiration and vision. Over the years\, B ybee's approach and motivation grew beyond the artistic and took on a docu mentary purpose\, as some of the familiar buildings and houses were demoli shed and replaced with high rise developments. Through a selection of Bybe e's black and white photographs\, we'll take a retrospective look at the h istory of our downtown cityscape and its changing skyline and infrastructu re. Come hear him discuss his work and what it captures about Columbia's h istory.
