</p>\n<p>During a German bombing raid on rural southeast England during Wo
rld War II\, a hospital undergoes heavy shelling. Postman Joseph Higgins (
Moore Marriott) dies on the operating table when a bomb explodes in the op
erating room. But when Sister Marion Bates (Judy Campbell) dies after reve
aling that this is not the first patient of anesthetist Barney Barnes (Tre
vor Howard) to die under suspicious circumstances\, Police Inspector Cockr
ill (Alastair Sim) is brought in to investigate.</p>\n<p>Genre: Mystery &a
mp\; thriller</p>\n<p>Screenings are led by Mark Holding\, a film studies
 professor.</p>\n<p>The screenings include a comprehensive handout\, brief
intro to the film\, and end with a group discussion. Popcorn and cold drin
ks served. This is similar to a book club and a great group of people. Mar
k is very open to input on the films to screen.</p>\n<p>The library holds

rong>About Mark:</strong></p>\n<p>For Mark\, films create community and fo
ster empathy.</p>\n<p>Growing up in the UK\, Mark&rsquo\;s frequent visits
to &lsquo\;the pictures&rsquo\; provided him with\, among many other wond
ers\, his first window into the New World and all things American. It was
the beginning of a love affair. When he moved to New Hampshire in the earl
y 80s\, Mark began a lifelong career teaching English and Film Studies at
three New Hampshire public high schools and at St. Paul&rsquo\;s Advanced
Studies Program. Exploring and studying films with his students\, Mark dis
covered film&rsquo\;s power as a cross-generational connection. When he re
tired\, he collaborated with Carol Nelson at the Peterborough Community Th
eatre to host a popular weekly Film Club\, where movie fans and film buffs
shared their thoughts in post-viewing large-group discussions. He current
ly teaches an Introduction to Film Studies course at Keene State College&r
squo\;s CALL continuing ed. program. All these teaching/moderating experie
nces have confirmed Mark&rsquo\;s belief that discussion is the single mos
t helpful way to a greater understanding\, appreciation\, and enjoyment of
  film.</p>\n<p>&nbsp\;</p>\nhttps://peterboroughtownlibrary.libnet.info/ev
