This is an all-day workshop for ages 14 an d up and beginners are welcome. The program will be from 9:30-3:00\, with a break for participants to lunch on their own. The final tiles will be re ady for pickup approximately 2 weeks after the program.
\nParticipan ts will spend some time in the Library&rsquo\;s native plant garden sketch ing and then use those drawings as inspiration for their tile design. Parr an will guide everyone through the steps of creating a drawing\, cutting s hapes in clay\, assembling the tile\, and adding color. \;
\nPar ran has created mosaic art in public settings throughout Southern Maryland . She's currently working on a series of mosaic sculptural panels for our Native Plants Garden\, slated for installation in the Fall. Her current wo rk\, including this program\, is made possible by grant funding from the M aryland State Arts Council.
\nThis workshop is an opportunity to fol low along in her tile making process\, spend time observing local nature\, and get your hands in clay!
