Learn the Ukrainian folk art of pysanky (p yh-sahn-KYH) making. This Ukrainian Easter tradition \;dates back to t he ancient pagan celebration of the coming of Spring. Participants start b y \;watching the demonstration of this wax resist (batik) process afte r which they are assisted in \;each step of the making of their own py sanka. Participants will write traditional designs with a \;stylus app lying hot wax on the egg\, and progress through a series of dye baths\, ad ding more \;designs on each subsequent color. The final step- the remo val of wax- reveals the jewel that is a \;pysanka!
