DC Public Library\, the DC Public Library Foundation\, Pepco\, are proud to sponsor a production of 10 Seconds by Mi riam Gonzales at the Lillian J. Huff/Lamond Riggs Neighborhood Library\, p roduced by Imagination Stage's Theatre for Change program. In a world wher e deeply rooted biases and misperceptions easily take hold\, life can ofte n feel unnerving&mdash\;and can change for better or worse in a blink of a n eye\, depending on how we see each other. In this play\, we see through the eyes of Washington\, DC high school students Ray and Jimi\, who naviga te their young adult worlds and what it means to be young black men in the city. Ray tells the story of a day that he and Jimi will never forget\, s haring not only their perspectives\, but also the views of the police they encounter.
\nThis production is best for ages 13 - 19. The play wil l take place in the large meeting room\, and will be followed by a discuss ion of the play. This production will kick off Imagination Stage's residen cy at Lamond-Riggs\, where they will lead workshops for teens on creating activist art to submit to the Library's Know Your Power contest.
