Food not only nourishes our bodies but it evokes our ideas about culture\, tradition\, memory\, and identity. Food a lso is an important metaphor in poetry for different kinds of hunger\, pow er\, sensuality\, interconnectedness\, and so much more. This workshop wil l explore these ideas through discussion and reading of poems that utilize food as an organizing principle\, metaphor\, and imagery. We will make ti me to start writing our own poems\, so come with some ideas in mind (or be ready to get inspired by the poems we read together and the prompts provi ded).
