Artist-In-Residence Hannah Charlton will s how how pigments were traditionally harvested from raw materials\, and how these pigments were blended to make paints\, glazes\, and inks. This pres entation will include demonstrations of techniques\, tips for how to make your own paints\, and at least one baking soda volcano.
\nAbout Hann ah: Hannah Charlton \;is an Artist-In-Residence at the Hive®\; working on a 49-piece series based on the 15th century "The Book of the City of Ladies" by Christine d e Pizan. She creates medieval-style illuminated manuscripts using gouache\ , gold\, and ink on vegan parchment. "My work challenges our ideas about t he Middle Ages\, showing a time of stunning beauty and social change."
