This program is part of Indiana Humanities &rsquo\; One State / One Story and invites Hoosiers to engage deeply with a book as part of a statewide conversation. In "All That She Carried"\, Ti ya Miles delves into the history and stories around a sack and its content s given to a daughter by her enslaved mother when they are brutally separa ted\, how the family story is preserved through beautiful embroidery on th e sack and how she "carefully unearths these women's faint presence in arc hival records to follow the paths of their lives". \; Share how this b ook encourages us to look at objects to learn more about our past and how those histories form who we are today. \; Discuss the importance of co llecting\, researching\, and learning about our shared history from these often overlooked objects and voices.
