Like yoga\, the art of writing is a practi ce. Join Writer in Residence Brandi Larsen as she gives writers a deeper u nderstanding of the Story Workshop Method. A method designed for community and individual practice\, please come prepared to write and play. We&rsqu o\;ll sit in a semi-circle\, work with word games and oral storytelling\, and take to the page with exercises designed to help us develop the practi ce of listening to our writing voice.
\nWriter in Residence Brandi Larsen is a writer\, speaker\, and coach creating a more i nclusive publishing landscape. Her focus in residency is inspiring writers to understand their work through the lenses of community\, craft\, and co mmerce. \;
\nAs a publishing executive at Penguin Random House\, Brandi's work helped books become \;bestsellers. As a journalist\, he r efforts earned Emmy nominations. As a speaker\, her talks about publishi ng\, leadership\, and purpose inspire audiences from Zoom to Harvard. Her writing has been published widely in newspapers and magazines\, literary j ournals\, textbooks\, industry guidelines\, and online. She's the co-write r of UNCULTURED: A Memoir (St. Martin's Press)\, which earned starred revi ews in Publishers Weekly\, was recommended \;by the \;New York Tim es\, and nominated as a GoodReads Choice Award Best Memoir of the Year.
\nBrandi is passionate about helping her community. In addition to her work with \;CCPL\, she serves as President Emeritus of Literary Cleve land\, mentors caregivers through the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation\, and sponsors the annual Eileen Kleinert Memorial Scholarship. In her free time \, she marries creative couples.
