 >\, and <em>A Tale of Two Maidens</em>. Repak's book is a memoir about the
  challenges of raising children\, making a home and pursuing a career in e
 ast and west African countries at the height of the AIDS epidemic. Echols&
 rsquo\; book\, <em>A Tale of Two Maidens</em>\, is a novel about a young w
 oman who becomes a scribe and defies convention by embarking on a dangerou
 s journey\, where she crosses paths with Joan of Arc.</p>\n<p>Repak and Ec
 hols will discuss what it was like for women to risk leaving their homes i
 n the late Middle Ages versus the present\, and how forming bonds with peo
 ple of other cultures and backgrounds was transformative. After the talk\,
  there will be a Q and A followed by a book signing.</p>\n<p>Terry Repak a
 ttended Bethesda schools and worked as a reporter for syndicated columnist
  Jack Anderson in Washington\, DC. She lived in Ivory Coast\, Tanzania and
  Switzerland with her family and has written travel articles and stories f
 or newspapers\, magazines\, and online publications. She&rsquo\;s the auth
 or of Waiting on Washington: Central American Workers in the Nation&rsquo\
 ;s Capital and the mother of two global citizens.</p>\n<p>Anne Echols is t
 he coauthor (with Marty Williams) of two nonfiction books\, Between Pit an
 d Pedestal: Women in the Middle Ages&nbsp\;and&nbsp\;An Annotated Index of
  Medieval Women. Her research for those projects inspired her to go beyond
  historical facts and imagine the fictional stories of ordinary women from
  the Middle Ages. A Tale of Two Maidens: A Novel is her first historical f
 iction. After earning a BA and master&rsquo\;s degree from Emory Universit
 y in Atlanta\, Anne enjoyed a long career of teaching English to high scho
 ol students with language learning disabilities.</p>\n<p>Questions about t
