Margaret Bryan\, an educator and author wh o lived 200+ years ago in England\, has long been one of the mystery women of science. As headmistress of a boarding school for young ladies\, she w rote two well-regarded textbooks on astronomy and physics. \;Despite 2 00+ years of interest in her life\, no information had been available abou t when and where she was born\, her maiden name and the names of her paren ts\, husband\, and children\, or when and where she died.
\nGreg S. Girolami\, William and Janet Lycan Professor o f Chemistry \;from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign\, will g ive a talk at the Champaign County Genealogical Society's monthly meeting about Margaret Bryan. Greg&rsquo\;s talk will be a detective story : it will describe how a small clue led to a trail of historical records.< /p>\n
