\nToday's musicians are Mina Hu\, Cuewo n Kim\, and Carley Newman \;
\nMina Hu is a 15-year-old rising j unior at Vestavia Hills High School. She has been playing violin since she was 4 years old and loves every moment of making music with others. Under Jeffrey Flaniken of Samford University&rsquo\;s instruction\, she has bee n the associate concertmaster of the Alabama All-State Orchestra. If she's not playing violin\, you can find her preparing for a debate tournament o r experimenting with ideas on the piano or flute. She's looking forward to sharing the trio's music with everyone!
\nCuewon Kim is a rising se nior at Vestavia Hills High School and plays viola. As the winner of the L ois Pickard Concerto Competition for strings division and the Alabama Symp hony Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition\, Cuewon will be performing as a soloist in the fall for the youth orchestra. He began playing violin at t he age of five and has studied under Angela Flaniken of Samford University for the past six years. Aside from music\, he enjoys doing mathematical r esearch on topics like Number Theory.
\nCarley Newman is a sixteen-y ear-old rising junior and is homeschooled through Evangel Christian School . She began her violin studies at the age of three and has studied with Je ffrey Flaniken of Samford University for the past eight years. She was the first-prize winner of the string division of the 2023 Lois Pickard Schola rship Competition and the Concertmaster of the 2024 Alabama All-State Fest ival Orchestra. When she is away from her violin\, she enjoys ballet and i s an apprentice in Ballet Exaltation\, a performing company of Briarwood B allet.
