This virtual talk will celebrate the life and career of Lucille Ball. \; She rose from humble origins to become one of the most powerful women in Hollywood and the first woman to run a m ajor \;studio. \; She also entertained us\, and remains one of the best comediennes ever seen. \; Moderately successful in &ldquo\;B&rdq uo\; movies\, it was television that solidified her career. \; I Love Lucy has virtually never been off the air since it began in 1951. \; T he show established her as a major television star\, but also set the mode l for the situation comedy. \; Three more series followed\, and Lucy k ept doing what she did best\, making people laugh. \; She has received every award there is for television\, and numerous honors and recognition . \; Though she died in 1989\, we still love Lucy!
\nAb out the Presenter: \;Marc Courtade is a performing arts profe ssional with more than 30 years experience and a passion for sharing his k nowledge about the arts. \; He is the recently retired Executive Direc tor at Huntington Arts Council. \; Previous positions include Business Manager at Tilles Center for the Performing Arts\, Adjunct Professor of A rts Management at Long Island University Post\, as well as positions at Ne w York City Opera and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. \; With 125+ lectures\, Marc has delivered hundreds of talks and classes throughou t the tri-state area.
