X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>Dr. Michele Kilmer will present informatio
n on autism spectrum disorder\, how autism can affect families\, and how t
he Access4Autism program empowers parents and care providers to better ser
ve autistic youth.</p>\n<p>A4A&rsquo\;s goal is to improve health outcomes
associated with autism spectrum disorder in underserved populations by ad
dressing barriers of limited access\, financial constraints and other soci
al determinants of health that negatively impact families with autistic yo
uth. The A4A program of the&nbsp\;University of Arkansas&nbsp\;is under th
 e direction of&nbsp\;Michele Kilmer\, D.N.P.\, an assistant professor in t
he U of A&nbsp\;Eleanor Mann School of Nursing. Located on the Fayettevill
e campus in the Epley Center for Health Professions.</p>\n<p>The <a href="
 https://accessforautism.uark.edu/">Access4Autism program</a> uses in-perso
n and telehealth appointments to conduct diagnostic evaluations\, care man
agement and therapy sessions\, including animal-assisted therapy\, for chi
ldren identified with developmental delay or behavioral concerns. The goal
is to provide the latest evidence-based care for autistic children\, help
ing them reach their fullest potential. Caregiver empowerment is an essent
ial component of the A4A program. They use evidence-based strategies to as
sist caregivers to appropriately parent their autistic children. They also
assist community primary care providers to deliver culturally competent s
ervices for families with children identified at risk for ASD\, serving to
reduce health disparities experienced by historically marginalized commun
ities.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>FPL's community health programs are free and open to
the public. No registration is required.</p>\n<p><br />All abilities are
