\nDr. Cole moved to the Was hington\, DC area in 2004 to accept a senior executive position at the Dep artment of Housing and Urban Development and retired from HUD in 2016. &nb sp\;She attained MBA and EdD degrees from the University of Southern Calif ornia\, an MA from the University of Michigan\, and a BA from Wayne State University. \; She has served on the Board of Horton&rsquo\;s Kids\, a non-profit organization providing tutoring and mentoring services to youn g people in Anacostia\, since 2014 and been a volunteer for AARP since 201 8.
