\nThe Supreme Court has issued \;multiple \;rulings t hroughout the 2023-2024 term that will significantly impact Americans' civ il rights. \;Marc Spindelman\, the Isadore and Ida Topper Professor of Law at The OSU Moritz College of Law\, will facilitate a community conver sation around some of the blockbuster rulings\, break down the major decis ions made by the Court\, and help us reflect on how those decisions will s hape American politics and life moving forward.
\nPresenter Biography
\nMarc Spindelman\, a nationally recognized legal scholar in multiple legal fields\, is the Isadore and Ida Topper Professo r of Law at Moritz. He regularly teaches Constitutional Law\, Family Law\, Constitutional Law Theory\, Advanced Family Law\, Critical Theory/Critica l Lawyering\, Social Justice and the Law\, and Sexual Violence and the Law . Other courses he has recently taught include The Lawyer in the Community and a distinctively innovative course called The Rule of Law in the Age o f Legal Change. \;
\nIn addition to teaching at Ohio State\, Pro fessor Spindelman been a visiting professor at Michigan Law School\, the G eorgetown University Law Center\, and Northwestern&rsquo\;s Pritzker Schoo l of Law. He&rsquo\;s also been a faculty associate at the Johns Hopkins U niversity Bloomberg School of Public Health. \;
\nProfessor Spin delman&rsquo\;s scholarship broadly focuses on questions of sexuality\, re production\, death\, and love as they intersect law\, society\, and cultur e. His work has been published in a range of law reviews\, including Michi gan Law Review\, the Emory Law Journal\, the University of Pennsylvania La w Review Online\, and the Georgetown Law Journal Online. In addition to hi s current and recent work in critical theory and on sex equality under law \, including both LGBTQIA+ rights and reproductive justice\, he is the co- author of a leading family law \;casebook published by Foundation Univ ersity Press. He has also been quoted widely in the local\, national\, and international press. \;
\nBefore joining the faculty at Ohio St ate\, Professor Spindelman was a Greenwall Fellow in Bioethics and Health Policy at Georgetown University and Johns Hopkins University. While a Gree nwall Fellow\, in addition to teaching at Georgetown&rsquo\;s law school a nd Johns Hopkins&rsquo\; school of public health\, he was a research fello w at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration&rsquo\;s Center for Drug Evalua tion and Research. Before that\, he was also a Reginald F. Lewis Fellow at Harvard Law School\, a law clerk for Judge Alice M. Batchelder on the U.S . Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit\, and an associate at a Wall Stre et law firm. \; \;
\nSince 2021\, Professor Spindelman has s erved as co-editor of \;JOTWELL&rsquo\;s Equality Section. \;
