n<p>Cuba Before and After explores memory and homeland through a collectio
n of oil on canvas paintings that captures the landscape\, people\, and cu
lture of Cuba throughout its many moments. From the Cuban War of Independe
nce to the Revolution of 1959\, Cuba&rsquo\;s history is one that is defin
ed by turbulent change and the constant search for freedom\, and Yolanda B
lanco represents this in her work as she captures those many moments in th
e past that are integral to understanding Cuba&rsquo\;s present. Among thi
s are depictions of the rich culture that is ever evolving\, with its rich
folklore and music capturing the essence of what Cuba represents and how
it continues to adapt. The colorful flora and fauna burst from the canvas
in bright hues of paint\, drawing its audience in to engage with the beaut
y of the tropical Caribbean island.</p>\n<p>In this richness\, Cuba Before
and After creates an image of Cuba that is deeply personal. The artist ai
ms to bring the audience into her own experiences of Cuba as someone who h
ad to experience exile from her homeland. Paintings such as Buscando Liber
tad shows Cuba as it is today and the struggles its people face.&nbsp\;</p
