David Steigerwald\, a Professor of History at The Ohio State University\, will explore how Robert F. Kennedy&rsquo\; s funeral in 1968 embodied and refracted \;many of the deep tensions s treaming through American life in the Sixties\, and marked the last death of the New Deal-Democratic Party coalition. This program is in partnership with the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio as part of the current exhibition \;MOD: Visual\ , Social\, Cultural\, Renaissance Of The 1960s\, \;June 1- August 25.

\nDavid Steigerwald is a Pr ofessor of History at Ohio State University\, where he directs the History Department&rsquo\;s WWII program and has taught undergraduate courses in The Sixties for three decades. \; Among his books are \;The Si xties and the End of Modern America \;(New York\, 1995) and \ ;Debating the Sixties: Liberal\, Conservative\, and Radical Perspectiv es\, \;co-authored with Bexley&rsquo\;s own Michael Flamm. \; He is finishing a book on alienation in postwar-WWII America\, a central socio-cultural element in the creation of &ldquo\;The Sixties.&rdquo\;&nbs p\; With this talk he is launching on a new project on Robert Kennedy and America at a vital crossroads.
