 elationship to masculinity\, and explores the contrast between rural and u
 rban lifestyles in hopes of reconciling the seemingly unreconcilable&mdash
 \;the beauty within both Indigenous and "Western" ways of life. Narrated b
 y Derik&rsquo\;s spiritual guardian\, Redbird\, who brings light to an oth
 erwise grave subject\, <em>Beautiful Beautiful</em> is a wonderfully creat
 ive coming-of-age story.</p>\n<h5>About the Author</h5>\n<p>Brandon Reid h
 olds a B.Ed. from the University of British Columbia with a specialization
  in Indigenous education\, and a journalism diploma from Langara College. 
 In addition to Reid's debut novel\, <em>Beautiful Beautiful</em>\, being s
 hortlisted for the 2024 William Saroyan International Prize for Writing\, 
 he is also a finalist for the BC Book Prizes' Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize.
