 t gay rights march\, BPL welcomes author Michael Rowe in a thought-provoki
 ng conversation with Pflag Canada president Taylor Henderson to discuss&nb
 sp\;<em>Pride\,</em> a celebration of those who march with pride. </p>\n<p
 >Toronto&rsquo\;s first Gay Pride March started when a hundred people gath
 ered to march from Allan Gardens to Queen&rsquo\;s Park\, calling on lawma
 kers to include sexual orientation in the Ontario Human Rights Code. This 
 march helped lay the groundwork for what has become one of the largest gay
  pride festivals in the world.</p>\n<p>In <em>Pride</em>\, Lambda-award-wi
 nning writer Michael Rowe brings this history&mdash\;and the challenges th
 e gay community has faced since&mdash\;into sharp focus while Toronto phot
 ographer Angel Guerra captures his city&rsquo\;s pride parade on a human s
 cale. In 120 photographs\, Guerra zooms in from the glorious spectacle to 
 the small scenes and single participants\, shining a light on moments of j
 oy\, strength\, ferocity\, resilience\, and love. At a time when 2SLGBTQI+
  rights are under renewed threat throughout the world\, Guerra and Rowe&rs
 quo\;s work captures the power of a movement that contains multitudes.</p>
