 s to sing beloved Irish ballad <em>Danny Boy</em> and the Neapolitan song\
 , <em>O Sole Mio&nbsp\;</em>(popularized by Luciano Pavarotti). Before per
 forming each piece\, he'll a brief overview of its history and context.</s

  retired from a 35-year opera/musical theater career\, where he earned a r
 eputation as one of the world&rsquo\;s most versatile and charismatic teno
 rs.</strong> His wide-ranging repertory included roles in the world of ope
 ra as well as the Broadway stage. These included the Duke in <em>Rigoletto
 </em> (with Cleveland Opera) and Danilo in Lehar&rsquo\;s<em> The Merry Wi
 dow</em> (in a PBS national broadcast of New York City Opera&rsquo\;s &lsq
 uo\;Live from Lincoln Center&rsquo\;) to the title role in Verdi&rsquo\;s 
 <em>Otello</em> (with RIA Opera in Amsterdam\, Opera de Nantes\, France an
 d Summer Opera of Washington). One of Michael's last roles was Roscoe in S
 tephen Sondheim's <em>Follies</em>&nbsp\;in which he made his Broadway deb
 ut at the Marriott Marquis\, and which he also performed at the Kennedy Ce
 nter in Washington\, DC and the Ahmanson Theater in LA. Other musical thea
 ter credits include: Ravenal in <em>Showboat</em> w/ Tom Poston at Sacrame
 nto Music Circus\; Freddy in <em>My Fair Lad</em>y with Noel Harrison\; Pa
 dre in <em>Man of La Mancha</em>\; and Billy Bigelow in <em>Carousel.</em>
