Kemal Gekic\, a Croatian born American con cert pianist\, is a professor of piano performance and Artist in Residence at Florida International University in Miami\, Florida. Gekic won prizes at many international piano competitions (F.Liszt in Parma\, Italy\, Viana Da Motta in Lisbon\, Portugal)\, but it was after he earned his master's degree in 1985--the year of his appearance at the Chopin Competition in Wa rsaw\, Poland\, that marked a turning point in his career.

Followi ng the 1985 Chopin International Piano Competition\, Gekic performed a gre at number of solo concerts throughout the world and has played with many o rchestras such as Warsaw Philharmonic\, Royal Philharmonic of London\, Jap an Philharmonic Symphony\, Leipzig Gewandhaus Symphony\, Czech National Sy mphony Orchestra and others.
