 </p>\n<p><strong>Irene Eckstrand bio:</strong><br />Irene became a Master 
 Gardener in 2017 after she retired from the National Institutes of Health.
 &nbsp\; She is delighted to spend more time on some of her major interests
  such as storm water management\, the ecology of gardens\, and climate cha
 nge. In addition to being a member of the MG Speakers Bureau\, Irene serve
 d as the editor of the MG newsletter\, The Seed\, for four years and still
  writes a column on science news. On Tuesday mornings\, you can find her w
 orking with the Montgomery County Fairgrounds Demonstration Garden team.&n
 bsp\; She shares her home with her husband\, a daughter\, two cats\, and t
