X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>Birds are a savvy gardener&rsquo\;s best f
riend\, as they eat hundreds of insects a day and feed them to their young
 . Toads eat 300 insects a night!&nbsp\; Butterflies and moths pollinate 8%
  of the world&rsquo\;s flowering plants\, bees 16%.&nbsp\; Unfortunately\,
with habitat fragmentation and too many deer over-browsing the understory
\, our songbird populations are plummeting here in Maryland.&nbsp\; Our be
es are suffering too and butterflies are not faring very well either.&nbsp
\; What can you do?&nbsp\; Plenty!&nbsp\; With a bit of planning and a few
simple tweaks\, you can transform your patch of the world into a haven fo
r wildlife. Whether you garden in a container or on several acres\, you ca
n make a difference &ndash\; come and learn how!</p>\n<p><strong>Marie Roj
as bio:</strong><br />Marie has been providing Integrated Pest Management
services for homeowners\, nursery growers\, and property managers through
 her company\, Borders &amp\; Butterflies\, for over 25 years.&nbsp\; She s
erves on several green industry boards\, including the Professional Ground
s Management Society &nbsp\;(D.C. branch)\, the Montgomery County Beekeepe
rs Association\, and the Environmental Program Advisory Committee for Mont
gomery County Public Schools.&nbsp\; Marie has been a Montgomery County Ma
ster Gardener since 1994.&nbsp\; She also keeps bees and heritage chickens
with her husband on their historic 92 acre farm in the Agricultural Reser
