Composting put simply is a unique method o f recycling. It uses existing microorganisms to decompose organic matter i nto usable and highly nutritious soil. It can be done in your backyard\, u nder your sink or even in commercial settings. All you need to know is the composting recipe for success\, an open mind\, and the desire to help the environment.
\nA gardener for more than 40 years\, Barb McIntosh ha s been a Massachusetts Master Gardener since 2016. She is a former volunte er Head Steward in the Trial Garden at Massachusetts Horticultural Society &rsquo\;s Gardens at Elm Bank. She is also a principal contributor in the Northeast Correctional Center (NECC) \;Concord Massachusetts Horticul tural program where inmates are trained on vegetable gardening and landsca ping techniques with the hope that they will be able to secure a job upon release. Barb is presently bringing the horticulture program to Pondville prison. Barb also is the co-project manager for the Carlisle Center Park s ite\, providing outreach as well as gardening programs. Barb participates in a variety of other MMGA activities\, including mentoring master gardene r students\, training\, and the MMGA newsletter.
