In this workshop we&rsquo\;ll explore Assi stive Technology by building an Assistive Switch using electronics\, solde ring and 3D printed parts. \; The best part is every switch we make wi ll be donated to the community after we&rsquo\;re done.
\nAccording to Statistics Canada\, 80% of people living with a disability use an assis tive device to increase their independence\, and 27% need at least one mor e. Cost is often cited as the main barrier.
\nOur guiding vision at Neil Squire is to achieve economic and social inclusiveness for all people with disabilities. To support this vision\, \;Makers Making Change \;leverages the capa city of community based Makers\, Disability Professionals and Volunteers t o develop and deliver affordable Open Source Assistive Technologies. \ ; \;
\nMakers Making Change supports STEM education through an a ssistive technology lens. Our workshops encourage students to tackle real- world challenges as Maker Volunteers and to empathize with people with dis abilities. \; Learn more here: \;Youth Making Change.
