X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>The group creates an exciting blend of son
gs mixing traditional Inuit music with R&amp\;B\, soul\, and gospel\; ofte
 n referred to as &ldquo\;tribal funk&rdquo\; or &ldquo\;Inuit soul.&rdquo\
; This one-of-a-kind and energetic concert is designed to share indigenous
knowledge and history through joyous music and traditional Yup&rsquo\;ik
dancing\, which is an ancient form of Inuit dance.</p>\n<p>PAMYUA was form
ed in April 1995 by brothers Phillip and Stephen Blanchett. The brothers s
tumbled upon a musical concept to blend Inuit drum/dance melodies with R&a
mp\;B vocal styling and arrangements. The duo immediately began sharing th
eir performance around Alaska and collaborating with like-minded artists.<
/p>\n<p>Later that year Ossie Kairaiuak permanently joined the group and i
n the spring of 1996 Karina Moeller permanently joined. Today the quartet
works with world-class musicians from Alaska and Denmark and travels the w
orld sharing their blend of cultural harmony.</p>\n<p>PAMYUA (pronounced b
um-yo-ah) is a Yup'ik Inuit word\, means the "tail end of (something)" and
is traditionally used to call "Encore\, do it again!" during Inuit musica
l events or festivals.</p>\n<p>Free and open to the public. Seating is on
a first-come\, first-served basis and may be limited. For more information
