Everyone has opinions and at least one are a they know a lot about. This workshop will demonstrate how you can transf orm your ideas and experiences into a pitch. It will examine the personal side of writing opinion pieces and delve into some of the mechanics of mem oir. \; This workshop will also examine the practice of blogging for b uilding experience\, and how you can get your work to a publishable standa rd and build an audience.
\nAlthough Cherie Gilmour \;has written her whole life\, she started writing opinion pieces for The Age and Sydney Morning Herald about eighteen months ago and has been writing regularly ever since. She also writes for other publications\, lik e The Big Issue and psychology features for MiNDFOOD magazine. She \;r ecently set up creative writing classes in Torquay and is working on her f irst novel.
\nUp to 15 participants aged 18+. For anyone who has eve r seriously considered writing for a newspaper and anyone who would like t o develop their memoir writing or blogging skills.
