The processes of writing are often like an archaeological dig and use similar processes: turning over artefacts\, co nsidering stratification\, piecing together fragments\, blowing away the d ust of memory.
\nNarratives emerge in archaeology to explain the mat erial finds and so too is creative writing a project of storytelling. This workshop will consider the use of archaeology to create a present message or memory.
\nEach participant will be given notes to keep relating to the topic\, as well as copies of poems which exemplify themes. The work shop involves a talk by the presenter\, followed by a guided reflective mo ment\, time for writing towards the topic and finally individual feedback in the group for each participant.
\nRobyn Rowland is an Irish-Australian citizen who has been living between and Ireland and Australia for over 20 years. She regularly works in Turkey. She has writt en 14 books\, 11 of poetry\, most recently Under This Saffron Sun (Knocknarone Press\, Ireland\, 2019).
