 ved as the prosecuting attorney in the 1980 trial of serial killer Ted Bun
 dy\, will the guest speaker on Sunday\, September 8\, 2024\, at the Millho
 pper Branch of the Alachua County Library.</p>\n<p>Dekle has lectured exte
 nsively nationwide and is the author of numerous books on trial advocacy a
 nd legal history. His most recent book\,&nbsp\;<em>The East River Ripper: 
 The Mysterious 1891 Murder of Old Shakespeare&nbsp\;</em>(True Crime Histo
 ry) was published in 2021. His book about the Bundy case\,&nbsp\;<em>The L
 ast Murder: The Investigation\, Prosecution\, and Execution of Ted Bundy</
 em>&nbsp\;was published in 2011.</p>\n<p>Ted Bundy confessed&nbsp\;to 30 h
 omicides that occurred between 1974 and 1978. His last known victim was 12
 -year-old Kimberly Leach\, who was murdered in Lake City\, Florida\, 47 mi
 les north of Gainesville. His trial lasted a month and a half.</p>\n<p>Dek
 le served for two years as an assistant public defender and thirty years a
 s a prosecutor\, handling dozens of homicide cases. He also served as a Le
 gal Skills Professor at Levin College of Law\, University of Florida\, fro
 m 2006 through June 2016.</p>\n<p>His many books include&nbsp\;<em>Six Cap
 sules: The Gilded Age Murder of Helen Potts</em>\,&nbsp\;which was awarded
  a gold medal by the Florida Authors and Publishers Association and silver
  medals by the Independent Publishers Association Book Awards and Royal Pa
 lm Literary Awards of the Florida Writers Association.</p>\n<p><em>Prairie
  Defender: The&nbsp\;Murder Trials of Abraham Lincoln</em>&nbsp\;won a sch
 olarship award from the Illinois Historical Society and gold and silver me
 dals from the Florida Authors and Publishers Association. Dekle has also c
 oauthored books\, including&nbsp\;<em>The Lindbergh Kidnapping Case: A Cri
 tique of the Trial of Bruno Richard Hauptmann</em>.</p>\n<p>A book signing
  will follow Dekle&rsquo\;s talk on the Bundy case. The presentation is fr
 ee and open to the public.</p>\n<p>The Writers' Alliance of Gainesville (W
