X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>Please bring a piece of your writing (we s
uggest a couple of pages - it should take about 5 minutes to read your sel
ection) and be prepared to read it aloud to the group - you will find a ve
ry receptive audience\, no matter your memoir writing subject. If you need
any special help with reading Helen will help you.</p>\n<p>Memoir group a
t the Main Library has been facilitated by Helen Rubin since July 2022\, w
hen the group returned to in-person meetings.</p>\n<p>Helen is a British t
rained elementary school teacher\, she later educated her two sons at home
\, and now supports her three home educated grandchildren. Her passion is
the early care of babies and young children\, following the work of two sp
ecial Hungarian ladies: Emmi Pikler MD\, and Magda Gerber (Magda brought P
ikler&rsquo\;s ideas to the US.) Books\, reading\, and writing\, have play
ed a big part in Helen&rsquo\;s life\; moreso since leaving school.</p>\n<
p>Helen has discovered a full and varied life as an immigrant to the US\,
starting with compiling and publishing the first US Edition of the UK&rsqu
o\;s well known Reed&rsquo\;s Nautical Almanac with her late husband\, Mar
tin\, in 1973-1974. The twists and turns of life compelled Helen to docume
nt the various facets of her early life in England\, plus her years in the
US. Several books are in the works!</p>\n<p>All are welcome in Memoir Gro
up - there is no limit to who may attend.</p>\n<p>Any questions? Contact H
