In partnership with the Spokane Public Lib rary\, Spokane Carvers Association is hosting the 33rd annual presentation of Artistry in Wood\, a juried show of regional wood carvings and an exhi bition of woodturning. There is no admission charge\, and the public is en couraged to attend!
\nSpecial events over the weekend include woodtu rning demonstrations\, carving demonstrations and classes\, free advice\, an exciting raffle and silent auction of fine tools\, beautiful exotic woo ds\, books\, artworks\, and more\, plus a retrospective from award-winning Featured Artist\, L uis Pé\;rez\, an artist from Venezuela who specializes in Intars ia locally. \nThe juried show is open to all carvers from through out the U.S. and Canada. Carvers may register their carvings for the show in-person on Friday\, October 4 between 3:30 and 6:30 pm at the Hive. Carv ers at all skill levels are invited to register their carvings for show or for sale.
\nTo register for your work to be judged and eligible for ribbons and ranking\, carvings must be no older than 2 years old and the cost is $2.00/carving entered at the door\; any carvers 16 and younger may enter the junior skill level for no charge to qualify for ribbons. \; Carvings\, wood turnings\, pyrography\, and small hand-crafted wood workin g projects with any of the aforementioned elements may be entered for exhi bit only for no charge.
