DESCRIPTION:What is the future of space exploration? Does it still involve
people? Or\, are we going to leave it to the robots? A talk by Kate Green
 ..\nhttps://grlc.libnet.info/event/11133578
X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>Kate Green is a passionate advocate for ST
EAM education in schools &ndash\; particularly for girls &ndash\; in her r
ole as Space Exploration Section Director for the Astronomical Society of
Victoria (ASV)\, undertaking talks and presentations to ASV members\, the
general public and schools.</p>\n<p>Her passion for Space Exploration and
Astronomy was nurtured from an early age through her Great Gran\, who taug
ht her the constellations and their stories and who purchased Kate her fir
st telescope so they could see Halley&rsquo\;s Comet together in 1986.</p>
\n<p>Inspired by correspondence with NASA\, Kate developed a passion for S
pace Exploration &ndash\; both human and robotic &ndash\; which was reinfo
rced by the 1980 &ldquo\;Cosmos&rdquo\; series by Carl Sagan.</p>\n<p>A ca
reer in Nursing and raising a family placed Astronomy and Space Exploratio
n on hold for several years. This passion was re-ignited when joining the
Astronomical Society of Victoria in 2020 &ndash\; with Kate stepping into
the Society&rsquo\;s Space Exploration Section Director role in 2022.</p>\
n<p>With her Nursing background\, Kate is particularly interested in human
space exploration and its impact on the body as we look to set up a human
colony on the Moon and beyond. Kate has an Arts Degree (Sociology / Behav
 ioural Studies).</p>\nhttps://grlc.libnet.info/event/11133578
