Our Main Library will soon be home to two new art installations\, and you're invited to participate in the design an d creation of each. Artists Suzanne Del Rizzo and Pamela Rojas will be wor king on their individual pieces with the help of our community through Jul y.
\nAt this workshop\, participants are invited to join Artist Suza nne Del Rizzo to &ldquo\;make their mark&rdquo\; on rolled raw clay slabs using a variety of household tools like toothpicks\, pencils\, texture mat s\, lace\, fabric\, ceramic texture mats etc. Then participants will creat e a template of a flower/ leaf/insect outline shape\, cut it out of cardbo ard\, use this template to cut multiple clay shapes from their textured cl ay slab. Once complete\, these clay elements will also be added to the BLO OM art piece. This activity will allow participants to explore texture and mark-making on clay and explore shapes in nature.
\nEveryon e is welcome to participate in this drop-in event\, and children under 10 must be accompanied by a caregiver.
\nBLOOM Artwork Concept and Description:
\nSuzanne is excited to be creati ng BLOOM which will incorporate community participants ceramic elements in to her piece. BLOOM captures and reflects both the wonder and universal in terconnectedness of the natural world and humankind. As leaves and shoots grow and unfurl\, sending out new explorative tendrils and flower buds blo om\, our insects and birds depend on these blooms for shelter and food to thrive and grow\, just as our children grow and explore our world and comm unity- a shared human experience- through family\, community and shared co nnections. This art piece not only reflects these themes but will be co-cr eated in this spirit\, with community contribution via various activities of creative expression.
\nArtist Bio:
\nSuzan ne is a contemporary artist who works in ceramics\, fiber\, recycled texti les\, and sculpture. She is also an awarding winning author-illustrator of children's literature. She captures the wonders of nature by exploring sh ape\, texture and colour in her abstract and dimensional artwork exploring the interplay between the natural world and the universal threads and hum an experiences which bind and unite us all. Through her art\, she seeks to create a sense of connection that transcends language and culture\, to re mind us of the beauty and wonder of the world around us. Suzanne currently belongs to The Corner Studio in KW.
