DESCRIPTION:Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services will
  provide Narcan training..\nhttps://mcpl.libnet.info/event/11178594
X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p><br />This training provides information o
n common opioids\, instructions on how to recognize an overdose and how to
administer Naloxone properly. Opioid use is one of the main causes of ove
rdose. Naloxone\, also known as Narcan&copy\; can be used to temporarily r
everse an opioid overdose. Naloxone is known as an opioid antagonist\, a m
edication that blocks opiate receptors\, therefore blocking the effects of
the opioid.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Montgomery County participates in Maryland&r
squo\;s Overdose Response Program and provides free Naloxone training and
kits to the community. This presentation&nbsp\; will include&nbsp\;a 30-45
minute presentation and time for questions and a discussion. The presenta
tion outlines valuable information including what an opioid is\, how to re
cognize an opioid\, what Narcan is\, and how to obtain Narcan. We will pro
vide the slide show and a kit for each participant.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>This
program will take place on the lower level in the large meeting room.</p>\
