DESCRIPTION:Meet local author\, Sid Sahib\, as he discusses his book\, Und

X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p><em>Undivided</em> seeks to bring attentio
n to a significant yet often overlooked historical event in the West: The
Partition of India. This tragic chapter\, marked by widespread bloodshed\,
resulted in the deaths of nearly 2 million people\, the displacement of 1
5 million\, and the appalling victimization of approximately 75\,000 women
during India's division into Pakistan in 1947. For the nearly six million
South Asians now residing in the US\, including a significant community i
n our area and five members in Congress of South Asian descent\, the Parti
tion remains one of the most painful episodes in our shared history&mdash\
;often the personal stories of our grandparents and great-grandparents. <e
m>Undivided</em> imagines an alternate history where this Partition never
occurred\, set against the backdrop of 1940s and 1950s India. It explores
the endurance of love amidst characters grappling with rejection and suffe
ring.</p>\n<p>Born in India\, Sid Sahib lived and worked in several countr
ies before finally settling in the United States nearly 30 years ago. As a
resident of Montgomery County and a graduate of Cornell University\, Sid
established himself as a business professional\, but his true love remains
the arts. A speaker of multiple languages\, he enjoys insights into diffe
rent cultures and appreciates the sensitivities of varying perspectives. M
 r. Sahib will discuss his book\, answer questions\, and sign copies of&nbs
 p\;<em>Undivided</em>.</p>\n<p><strong>Questions about this program?</stro
