 I have been painting with oil and acrylic for several decades and am mostl
 y interested in land and seascapes."</p>\n<p>J.R. Young is passionate abou
 t the west Salt Lake desert and Southern Utah scenery. Much of the theme o
 f his artwork focuses on these areas as well as neighborhood flower garden
 s and ponds near his home. In addition to his oil and acrylic painting\, h
 e enjoys mountain biking\, hiking\, travel\, golf\, playing the violin and
  viola and especially spending time with family and his 2 year old grandda
 ughter.</p>\n<p><strong>Artist's Bio<br /></strong>J.R. Young was born in 
 Salt Lake City\, Utah and was raised in Holladay\,&nbsp\;<strong></strong>
 Utah. He attended Olympus High School where he studied drawing and oil pai
 nting under the tutelage of Lorin Folland who was a former student of LeCo
 nte Stewart at the University of Utah. He was encouraged by Mr. Folland to
  continue oil painting after high school and J.R. has made it a lifelong p
 ursuit. He has completed nearly 250 paintings over the years\, having sold
  some and gifted others. After high school\, J.R. attended the University 
 of Utah graduating with a BA in Pre-medicine\, Geography\, and minoring in
  Spanish. During his university undergraduate experience\, he spent two ye
 ars in Mexico as a missionary. He then went on to study medicine at the Oh
 io College of Podiatric Medicine and graduated from that facility and retu
 rned to Salt Lake City to complete a surgical residency in Foot and Ankle 
 Surgery. He is currently in practice in Salt Lake City and has two childre
 n\, a son in law and a granddaughter.</p>\n<p>Over 300 oil on canvas and a
 crylic on canvas paintings: land and seascapes\, local Utah canyons and de
