X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>This presentation covers the basics of cre
dit\, how to figure out what your credit score is\, different types of cre
dit\, and more that can assist you in building a credit score that you&nbs
p\;can be proud of. It also reviews the 5 Cs of credit and how they impact
your financial credibility in the short and long-term.&nbsp\; In person i
 n the Library.</p>\n<p><strong>About the Presenter:</strong> Carylin Melen
dez was born and raised in Puerto Rico.&nbsp\; Though she studied to becom
e a teacher\, life took her down a different path\, banking. She has been
in banking for more than 20 years. Carylin enjoys helping people\, and her
position as Financial Wellness Officer has allowed her to come full circl
e\, empowering and guiding Visions Federal Credit Union members and non-me
mbers through their financial journey.</p>\n<p>Visions Federal Credit Unio
n was founded by eight IBM workers and 40 bucks. That&rsquo\;s right - fiv
e little dollars each in 1966 became more than $5.5 billion in assets toda
y.&nbsp\; In the decades that followed\, we&rsquo\;ve gradually grown to m
ore than 250\,000 members served by nearly 60 branches in three states. We
&rsquo\;re proud of that and everything credit unions stand for.&nbsp\; Cr
edit unions are not-for-profits owned by the members\, which means we work
for them and not stockholders. When a credit union makes profits\, it goe
s right back to the members in the form of low interest rates\, smaller fe
es\, and dividends. Plus\, our member deposits are federally insured\, and
no member of a federally insured credit union has ever lost one penny of
insured savings.</p>\n<p>This program is part of our <em>Dollars and Sense
</em> series on financial wellness. Register online or by calling the Libr
 ary at (973) 584-2400.</p>\nhttps://roxburylibrary.libnet.info/event/11331
