 empire with a lucrative Charter boat business during Miami's 1920's boom-t
 ime.&nbsp\; Med's presence was magnanimous and he shot upward on the polit
 ical and financial scenes. From city clerk to commissioner\, he segued to 
 a second marriage with none other than Andrew Carnegie's niece\, Elizabeth
  Storm Louder.</p>\n<p>At 230 feet long\, the SS Kaimiloa was equipped wit
 h luxury items such as running water\, electricity and a refrigeration pla
 nt that could also churn out 250 pounds of ice a day.&nbsp\;However thanks
  to Med Kellum's largess and open mindedness he had invited 6 scientists f
 rom the Bishop Museum of Honolulu for deeper discovery of all sorts of Pac
 ific conundrums including the fabled origins of Polynesian life.</p>\n<p>T
 he&nbsp\;Miami Pioneers is Dade County&rsquo\;s legacy historical organiza
 tion\, originally founded in 1936 by prominent settlers and business leade
 rs who arrived in Miami in the pioneer era before the year 1900.&nbsp\;The
 &nbsp\;Natives of Dade&nbsp\;was incorporated in 1986 by a group of local 
 history enthusiasts born in Dade County.&nbsp\;The groups merged on July 8
