 ic and its main instrument the&nbsp\;caj&oacute\;n&nbsp\;or box drum! Mr. 
 Morales will introduce the audience to this unique tradition and perform s
 ome of its typical styles like the&nbsp\;festejo\, lando\, and&nbsp\;zamac
 ueca. Participants will also have the unique opportunity to play the&nbsp\
 ;caj&oacute\;n&nbsp\;and other typical percussion instruments like the&nbs
 p\;cajita (little box)&nbsp\;and the&nbsp\;quijada&nbsp\;(donkey jawbone).
  As part of this workshop/celebration participants will also learn to sing
  popular songs of the Afro-Peruvian repertoire\, which are an essential pa
 rt of this beautiful tradition.</p>\n<p>Open to Adults and teens ages 14 t
 o 18. Registration is suggested as space is limited.</p>\n<p><em>Peruvian 
 drummer and percussionist\, Hector Morales has combined national and inter
 national performance for the past 20 years with his work as a teaching art
 ist in the Tri-State area. Morales has taught countless music residencies 
 primarily in Afro-Peruvian\, Latin and Urban Percussion\, through leading 
 arts organizations in the tri-state area. In 2015\, he received the &ldquo
 \;Artist of The Year&rdquo\; award from Young Audiences NJEP. His credits 
 also include leading professional development for music educators and serv
 ing as grant panelist for different art councils at the local and state le
 vel. As Adjunct Faculty\, he currently co-teaches a course on Performing a
 nd Teaching World music at William Paterson University. Morales currently 
 leads &ldquo\;The Afro-Peruvian Ensemble\,&rdquo\; an All-Star group of ma
 ster musicians of Afro-Peruvian music currently living in the US. He also 
 performs with other influential ensembles of the Afro-Peruvian Jazz scene 
 in NYC including Yuri Juarez&nbsp\;Afroperuano&nbsp\;Group and Gabriel Ale
