\nABOUT THE AUTHOR
\nMs. DeConnick first rose to prominence as a comics writer\, where she is best known for reinve nting Carol Danvers as &ldquo\;Captain Marvel&rdquo\; at Marvel and for th e standard-setting Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons at DC&rsquo\;s Black Label. Her independent comics\, Bitch Planet and Pretty Deadly (both from Image Comics)\, have been ranked as New York Times best-sellers. Her book s have been named Oregon Book Award Finalists\, Hugo Finalists\, and have been honored with Alfie\, Eisner\, and British Fantasy Awards\, as well as the Bronze Medal for International Manga from Japan. Her newest\, FML\, d ebuts November 6th\, 2024 from Dark Horse Comics.
\nMs. DeConnick&rs quo\;s screenwriting credits include work on Captain Marvel\, a film that grossed $1B worldwide for Disney\, as well as 2023&rsquo\;s The Marvels wi th Marvel Studios. She has also consulted on features for Skydance and ARR AY\, and has developed television projects for NBCUniversal\, Legendary En tertainment\, Amazon Studios\, and HBO Max. Her most recent stage work is the mythic spectacle AWAKENING\, which opened at the Wynn Resort Las Vegas in November 2022.
\nMission-driven\, Ms. DeConnick is a founding pa rtner at Good Trouble Productions\, where she has helped produce non-ficti on and educational comics\, including the &ldquo\;Hidden Voices&rdquo\; an d &ldquo\;Recognized&rdquo\; series\, as well as Congressman John Lewis&rs quo\;s Run\, produced in partnership with Abrams Comics.
\nIn 2015\, Ms. DeConnick founded the #VisibleWomen Project\, which aims to help wome n and other marginalized genders find paid work in comics and related indu stries. The project continues to this day and has recently expanded in par tnership with Dani Hedlund of Brink Literacy.
\nMs. DeConnick proudl y serves on the Video Game Advisory Board for the Geena Davis Institute an d on the Board of Directors for the Urban League chapter in Portland\, OR\ , where she lives with her husband\, writer Matt Fraction\, and their two children.
