In honor of Indigenous Peoples' Day\, spen d an evening learning about Native American powwow culture\, including the history of native dance and songs. View dance clothes and articles\, and watch a men's traditional-style dance performance.
\nPresenter and d ancer Bill Branson (Plains Cree) has over 55 years of experience dancing a nd creating native powwow dance clothing. He produces outstanding articles of dance clothing that are worn by various native dancers across this cou ntry\, in both men's and women's styles.
\nBranson is an accomplishe d powwow dancer\, having danced in all men's dance styles. Along with bein g a respected powwow singer\, in both northern and southern protocols\, Bi ll has also been honored to be the master of ceremonies at dances across t he native midwest dance circuit. He has presented educational programs to schools\, colleges and libraries.
\nHe travels to dances year round\ , from Oklahoma to Oregon\, Nebraska to Texas\, either dancing for the peo ple or singing with various drum groups. He's always willing to share his knowledge of Native American dance culture.
