In her presentation\, How to Be a Good Anc estor\, Karen will explain how to preserve your personal archives for futu re generations. She will review the preservation issues that most archivis ts must cope with\, and will identify attainable strategies for a family h istorian to use to give their family records the best chance of long-term survival.
\nKaren Urbec\, MLIS\, CA\, is a librarian\, archivist\, g enealogist\, and researcher. She is the Archivist and Digital Assets Libra rian at the Bridgewater Public Library in Bridgewater\, Massachusetts wher e she strives to reveal and disseminate the unique and valuable informatio n stored in the archives. She is also the owner of New England Genealogy A ssociates\, where she works with clients large and small to assist them in their family history research. Karen holds a Master of Arts in Library an d Information Science from the University of South Florida and has been a member of the Academy of Certified Archivists since 2020.
