She will share poems from <\;em>\;Reading Wind<\;/em>\;\, all inspired by her father\, a country doctor\, music ian\, and farmer. There will be opportunity for questions\, and signed cop ies of books will be available for purchase.\nCarol Barrett began writing poetry over forty years ago while counseling widowed persons. She fell in love with the craft\, and ultimately earned a Ph.D. in Creative Writing wi th a minor in Religious Studies. (Her first doctorate was in Clinical Psyc hology.) <\;em>\;Reading Wind<\;/em>\; is Carol�s third volume o f poetry. She has also published a book of creative nonfiction\, <\;em&g t\;Pansies<\;/em>\;\, a finalist for the Oregon Book Awards. Carol�s poems appear in venues in seven countries\, and in over 50 anthologies. S he has been awarded a Poetry Fellowship from the National Endowment for th e Arts. Carol still engages poetry to assist with grief\, as well as to ce lebrate joy.
